Guidelines for homework
For families who choose to partake in homework, teachers recommend the following activities which will support ongoing progress in the classroom.
Engage in family activities around the house, e.g. reading with whanau, recommending books to one another, playing some touch or soccer, gardening and growing food together, budgeting with spending money, tracking savings and calculating total costs and change when shopping. Cooking tea and baking is great! Doubling and halving recipes, estimating amounts of food necessary for different groups of people.
Read for at least 20 minutes a night.
Engage in quality conversations about what they are reading with family members and friends.
Take a look at the books students are recommending to one another.

Be Curious
Encourage curiosity and give plenty of opportunity to gain information from a range of sources. Your child can 'Find Out' about questions they are inquiring about, in or out of school. Take them to the library, encourage them to engage with experts in the area they are investigating, help them to safely source information on the internet.
