The Great War Exhibition

A huge thank you to our wonderful parents that joined us for today's trip. This was a highlight for the class! It was hugely beneficial for us to see what else happened after the Gallipoli Campaign. Check out some of the amazing scenes and if you can, take a trip to the Great War Museum, it's open till 6pm every night with late night till 10pm every Wednesday.

Key facts from the WW1 exhibition:  "The soldiers got to paint their planes.  There was blood, and there were messenger birds.  Tanks smashed over the trenches.  Blood is something that you don't see every day.  There are many reasons why people choose to remember.  There are many unknown soldiers.  A big war is something that doesn't happen every day. "  By Emilio - Year  Writer's workshop.

"I liked seeing the flame thrower.  It set things on fire, soldiers used them in the trenches.  Soldiers also had to wear gas masks.  Many people died from the gas and all the guns.  Planes also dropped bombs on the trenches."   By Juno - Year 7 Writer's workshop.

An astonishing WW1 tank with 2 cannons and 2 semi machine guns painted in beige and black there are two types; the first type has two cannons it is called a male tank. The other tank i called a female tank. It just has two machine guns. These humongous war machines were excellent choices for trench rushing. They would run over the barbed wire and would bring the trench crushing down on the people below. The tank had a few fatal weaknesses. It would flip over on steep hills and it also got up to 50 degrees inside, so that people would faint inside because of the hard work and an open engine. (Vents were very small so that it wouldn’t let grenades inside.). I would love to have a male tank to muck around with. Marek - Year 7 Writer's workshop.
